when sugar water and journalistic integrity collide

The Onion was approached a lot for marketing collaborations. Some made more sense than others and the editorial department was notoriously picky about who those partners would be. Jones Soda made the cut.

The collaboration resulted in a limited-edition collection featuring six different bottles, each showcasing a newsprint-inspired label with an Onion headline/image. The selected headlines included titles such as “War on String May be Unwinnable, Says Cat General,” “Nation Demands Tax Dollars Only Be Wasted on Stuff That’s Awesome,” and “Work Friend Accidentally Becomes Real Friend.”

This was one of those fun and easy projects. I mean, c',mon.

For this project I did design, layout and production for the labels and acted as a liaison between Onion and Jones Soda marketing/departments.
